Sweet Summertime

It's gray and rainy this morning and I can feel that summer is drawing to a close, even though it will be hot for at least another six to eight weeks here.
At the start of summer, I had a list of things I wanted to do--read for fun, read some preparatory materials for grad school, learn some printmaking techniques, and figure out what I'm going to do with my degree when I finish.
I managed most of those things, except figuring out what to do with an English degree (I think I'll just wing it), so I'd like to try just a few more things, like making a delicious watermelon this pretty...

...and starting to journal again...

...and creating a (non-virtual) mood board to inspire me.

What would you like to do with the rest of your summer?

oh journaling! i always feel so much more clear-headed, motivated, inspired, and all-around better after i journal for a while. i try to do it in the mornings to prepare me for the day. i also love the mood board idea. i just saw a house on another blog where a woman created an "inspiration hall" where she had bookshelves full of all sorts of things that inspired her. it was such a cool idea to set aside a space in your home where you can surround yourself with inspiration, and she said it was always an amazing conversation starter when she had visitors.

What a super sweet watermelon photo!
My summer started out mellow and then has escalated into stressful. :(
I hope to take another trip with my sweetie, see my friends, and read those YA novels that I so desperately want to read instead of do work!

I want to eat heart-shaped watermelon! I want to get a bike so we can take bike rides throughout our neighborhood and I want to get the screened in porch set up so we can spend endless nights listening to the sounds of nature...
