Happy Tuesday

Being away from the computer for almost two full days is apparently quite good for restoring a good dash of inspiration and motivation to one's life.  I really ought to plan one day each week where the laptop gets turned off and I pay some more attention to concrete things and nearby people.  I can't do this, of course, since I'll be using my laptop for schoolwork most days, but I'll set aside a little time, just enough, because I really live in a pretty place with some pretty great people.

Oh, and that wedding I went to?  It was seriously beautiful.  They were married at sunset and the rain cleared up just an hour before the ceremony started.

reminiscing

our wedding day was great fun.

I was looking through the "photobooth" album we set up with my mom's macbook, and rediscovered the happy pictures of young Miss N.  She is five and a half, not five, the baby of her family, and enormously adorable for her itty-bitty size.

So, without further ado, Miss N.

why my best friend rocks

[gallery columns="2" orderby="rand"]

Kat made this herself for our wedding.  I didn't get a good shot of the label attached to the underside, but it records the occasion of the gift and its creator.  It is one of the sweetest gifts I have ever received.  So much time and effort and patience went into the quilt's creation.

It also looks amazing, in all the Amy Butler Fabrics and their awesome colors.

I was then inspired to go to the library and I found this book:

If I have time between working and doing homework for my Literary Fairy Tale class, maybe I'll try to follow in Kat's shoes.  We do wear the same little size, after all.  But I'm more likely to pick up the copy of the Domino Book of Decorating that I also found, or get thoroughly lost in my newest read (Middlesex).

Oh well.  Kat will always be the craft queen, methinks.

an afternoon wedding

Three years ago, during the silly days of high school, M and J started dating.  They were far too cute, and it makes me smile to see that nothing has changed.  We haven't seen each other much, the  way college tends to move people around and such, but I was happy to attend M's wedding today with my long time best friend Kat.

M has always been a sweet girl, and the pink and black colors of the day suited her perfectly.  I was also enormously impressed by her gown.  I don't know where she found it, but it was so lovely and fit her just right, both physically and in style.  She was lovely and so crazy obviously (or should I say obliviously?) happy.  I can't believe how fast the time has flown since we were in graduation gowns and tossing our caps in the air.

Sadly, thanks to traffic, I missed most of the ceremony.  But the few moments I caught were beautiful.  M has many siblings, and it was neat to see all of them together to participate.  Her family was really lovely all together in their wedding attire.  Her little sisters were particularly adorable in their coordinating dresses.  So sweet!

Congrats M and J!

p.s Kat had a surprise for me that I'll share tomorrow.  She's so crafty!

p.p.s. M, your little sisters were collecting the petals from all the tables after the reception.  Their baskets were overflowing.
